Abstract
The anagram technique is a type of word game where the letters at the beginning of the word can be developed or rearranged so that they can produce new words or sentences and must have meaning. There are still many students at SMP Pahlawan Nasional Medan whose vocabulary mastery is quite weak, the teacher’s efforts to overcome this are by applying anagram techniques in learning. This study aims to determine how anagram technique can improve students’ vocabulary. The method used is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The location of this research is SMP Pahlawan Nasional Medan with the subjects being English teacher and students. Collecting data through the method of observation, interview, and documentation. From the results of research in the field, it shows that there is an increase in students’ vocabulary when using anagram technique. Students have fun figuring out a list of words where the letters are scrambled. In this case, it makes students more enthusiastic to learn English.
