Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the motivation of Natural Science and Social Science students’ in learning English. This study used descriptive qualitative approach. The population of this study were students of class XI Science and Social studies. The research samples were 46 students out of a total of 65 students. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interviews, and questionnaires. This study used motivation criteria which were adapted from Hidayat (2009). During the learning process in Natural Science class, students were more responsive when asked, and excited when asked to come to the front the class, taking shorter time to do assignments. While in Social Science class, they are less enthusiastic when asked to come to the front the class, less responsive to the questions given, and pay less attention to the teacher who teaches in front of the class but they need a short time to do tasks and answered questions with spirit. There are several factors that influence students’ learning motivation, such as listening to songs, learning styles, considering English as important in addition to communicating, and teacher teaching techniques. There are several learning techniques that teachers can use to increase students’ motivation, such as using questions and answers by asking questions to students and using Kahoot application. The use of this application can be done by registering account then being able to choose the games in the application
