Abstract

The use of learningmedia aims to generate interest, motivation, creativity and make learning meaningful which will ultimately improve students’ cognitive abilities. This study was motivated by the low level of syudent’s early reading and writing skills, the lack of utilization or use of flash card media on students’ early reading and writing skill in class I of Muhammadiyah 17. The purpose of this study was to determine the early reading and writing skill of class I students of Muhammadiyah 17 and to determine the effect of flash card media on improving the early reading and writing skills of class I students of Muhammadiyah 17. The population of this study was 15 students of class I of Muhammadiyah 17. With a sample of 15 students, data collection was carried out using questionnaire sheets, pre – test post – test question with test and prerequisite test. Based has been conducted by the researcher, the following conclusions can be drawan, namely that flash card media has an effect on early readin and writing skills. The calculation shows that the significance value of 0,05 or 5% indicates that HO is rejected Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be said that there is a difference between reading and writing skills before and after treatment seen from the average. The average post – test and pre – test 76 > 56. Then the hypothesis formulated is the use of flash card media has an effect on improving reading and writng skills, so it can be accepted and proven true. The results of this study can increase students’ creativity in the use of flash card media that has an effect on improving reading and writing skills, so it can help teachers as one of the solutions in improving early reading and writing skills.
