Abstract
This research is motivated by the importance of family factors to improve student achievement. In particular, the socio-economic condition of the student's family. Parents who have a good economic situation will find it easy to meet their children's educational needs, so that children are motivated to have a passion for learning which causes their achievement to increase. The problem raised in this study is whether there is an influence of family socio-economic status on students‟ learning achievement at MTs S Ja'fariyah Hutaibus Lubuk Barumun. The location of this research is at MTs S Ja'fariyah Hutaibus Lubuk Barumun. To achieve this goal, a research design using a quantitative approach was used, and the type of research selected was a study using a Proportional Random Sampling technique. The data collection method used is the questionnaire method and the documentation method, and the data analysis used in this study is a simple linear regression analysis technique. The object of this research is the socio-economic conditions of the family and student achievement. The sample in this study amounted to 32 families of students‟ from class IX . The results showed that 44% of respondents had moderate socioeconomic conditions of parents. the influence of the socioeconomic conditions of the students‟' families at MTs S Ja'fariyah Hutaibus Lubuk Barumun on English learning outcomes of 31.38 significant 0.000 > 0.05 (α = 5%). Thus the working hypothesis (Ha) which states that there is a positive influence between the influence of family socio-economic status on student‟s learning achievement at MTs S Ja'fariyah Hutaibus Lubuk Barumun is "accepted".
