Abstract

This research aims at improving the students‟ improving The students’ reading comprehension of narrative text through story frames strategy“. The subject of this research was grade eight at VIII Grade of SMP Swasta Imelda Rantau Prapat“. This research of this study was conducted by using classroom action research. The data used in this research at the result of the pretest to know pre-test and post-test, interview sheet, and observation sheet. The result of this research showed that there was increasing of students in reading narrative text. The mean of the pre-test was 55,95. The mean of the first cycle was 64,61. Then, the mean of the second cycle was 76,42. it indicated that the scores and the mean in the first cycle was better that the pre-test and the second cycle was better than the first cycle and pre test. The percentage of students who obtained score 70 or more were also grew up. In the pre-test there were 7 or 33.33%. Then, the post test cycle 1 there were 11 or 52.38% and on the results of the post test cycle 2, there were 21 or 100% of students who passed the KKM seen from the average value of the reading test they got. Thus, it can be concluded that story frame strategy can improve students reading comprehension of narrative text.
