Abstract
The research that has been conducted is entitled “The Correlation between Students‟ Economic Status and Students‟ English Learning Achievement”. There were two variables in this research. The design of this research was quantitative research which focused on two variables. The population of this research was the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Aek Natas in the 2021/2022 academic year. The population was 105 students and 51 samples were selected by stratified random sampling technique. To collect the data, the researcher used questionnaires about students' economic status and documentation about students‟ English learning achievement. The data were analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient and SPSS 25.0. The result of the data analysis showed that students‟ economic status was categorized as high level and students' English learning achievement was categorized as very high level. This research also showed that there was a low significant correlation between students‟ economic status and their achievement in English learning. Based on the hypothesis test by using product moment, it shows that r count (0,282)> r table (0,275). Thus, the alternative hypothesis was accepted and H0 was rejected. The researcher interpreted that there was a correlation between students' economic status and students' English learning achievement in the second year of SMAN 1 Aek Natas in the academic year 2021/2022.
