Abstract

Application of Debate Teaching Techniques to Improve Student’s Speaking Ability. This study discusses how a debate can help to improve students' speaking ability in English. considering that there are many methods that can be used, so the researcher wants to know whether this debating technique can be a method to improve students' speaking skills in English? other than that how the application is, each student has a different character, each has a different ability. Students' speaking problems can be solved by giving them many opportunities to practice English either in the classroom or outside the classroom. Practice speaking English in the classroom must be interested in the right technique so that so that students' speaking skills can be improved and the learning process can be pleasant. One technique that can be used in teaching speaking is debate. Every teacher who uses a debate application system to improve students' speaking skills is usually an expert. The application of this debate system also cannot be arbitrary, considering that debate itself is the delivery of arguments or differences of opinion which must have one goal as a result. every teacher must be able to mediate in the debate The application of debate in each learning process will be able to hone the mindset of each student. Express opinions by choosing the right words, as if students will be able to find each new word so that there is a development of the student's speaking system.
