Abstract
The lack of students' critical thinking, especially in social studies subjects at MTs SKB 3 Minister Lubuk Bayas, Perbaungan District, is of course caused by various faktor s, one of which is the lack of learning models applied by teachers to improve students' critical thinking abilities. Therefore, social studies teachers need to improve students' critical thinking skills so that students are more active and critical in the teaching and learning process. Based on the explanation above, the author feels it is necessary to research this problem and make it a final project with the title "Students' Critical Thinking Abilities in Social Studies Learning at the MTs SKB 3 Minister Lubuk Bayas School, Perbaungan District The aim of this research is to determine whether or not students have critical thinking skills in social studies learning at the MTS SKB 3 Minister Lubuk Bayas School, Perbaungan District. To find out the problems experienced by students in improving students' critical thinking skills in social studies learning at the MTS SKB 3 Minister Lubuk Bayas school, Perbaungan District. To find out the efforts made to improve students' critical thinking skills in social studies learning at the MTS SKB 3 Minister Lubuk Bayas school, Perbaungan District This research method is a qualitative method using interview data collection tools and descriptive data analysis. The results of this research are that there are students' critical thinking abilities in social studies learning at the MTS SKB 3 Minister Lubuk Bayas School, Perbaungan District, but only a small part of the students have critical thinking abilities and for the majority their critical thinking abilities are still low. The problems experienced by students in improving students' critical thinking skills in learning social studies at the MTS SKB 3 Minister Lubuk Bayas school, Perbaungan District are due to faktor s within the students themselves, namely low interest in learning social studies, low motivation and interest of students in critical thinking and less attractive learning methods. delivered by the teacher. Efforts made to improve students' critical thinking skills in social studies learning at the MTS SKB 3 Minister Lubuk Bayas school, Perbaungan District, are by using discussion methods and question and answer methods.
