Abstract
The research that has been done is entitled “The Effect of Tongue twister Game on Students’ Pronunciation at the Tenth Grade of SMA N 1 Ujung Padang”. Difficulty in pronouncing English sentences can destroy the atmosphere in a conversation because pronunciation is one of the most important factors in speaking English. According to (Claire, 2003) as quoted in Asilfa (2019) that pronunciation is the sound production of a language which has an influence on someone who listens to it. This research aims to obtain empirical evidence on the Effect of Tongue Twister Game on Students’ Pronunciation at the Tenth Grade of SMA N 1 Ujung Padang. That the data used Quantitative methods with Experimental research design, According to Muis as cited in (Afifah, 2017) asserts that “Experimental design is the experiment which can be defined as: a test und er controlled conditions what is made to demonstrate a know or truth or examine the validity of the hypothesis.” Researcher used in this study especially Quasi- Experimental Design to the effect of tongue twister on students’ pronunciation. In this study calculated research was found the mean score of pretest in experiment class is 50.75 from 20 data. Standard deviation of pretest is 8.387 with standard error 1.546. While the mean score of posttest is 80.00 from 20 data, standard deviation of posttest is 11.583 and standard mean score is 2.919. So it can be concluded that posttest gathers higher score than pretest so that the standard deviation of posttest and standard error are getting higher. Sum up, there was a significant effect of using tongue twister game on students’ pronunciation ability at SMA N 1 Ujung Padang on tenth grade academic year of 2023/2024. Therefore, the Alternative Hypothesis or Hₐ is accepted which means there is significant effect of Tongue Twister Game on Pronunciation Skill of Students, and it can be concluded that the research question has been answered. So for English teacher in particular, they should be able to find out about creative and existing techniques that are similar to the students. The researcher has discovered that one of the successful techniques can be the tongue twister game.
