Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not there was a substantial influence that could be attributed to the inquiry learning approach on the students' speaking abilities. The researcher used an experimental approach to doing quantitative research. The quantitative information was obtained through the survey. The findings of the analysis of the data revealed that the use of the inquiry learning technique had an impact, as measured by the students' improved speaking abilities. There were two distinct social groups among the population. The sample was comprised of the two different classes. The investigation included 37 different samples, all of which were obtained by a lottery. 19 students participated in the study as part of the experimental group (VII-1), whereas there were 18 participants in the control group (VII-2). Following the completion of the study, it was discovered that the pre-test and post-test scores for the experimental group had respective mean values of 60.78 and 76.31. While the controlled class improved, their mean score on the pre-test was lower (62.77) than the score they received on the post-test (74.72). The significance threshold for the T-test result of the data was set at 5%, and the calculation of the test using SPSS version 25 yielded the conclusion that t observed 0.596 greater than 0.591. (0.005). At SMPP Swasta Washliyani Medan's second-grade children, it is possible to draw the conclusion that the inquiry learning technique resulted in a considerable improvement in the kids' ability to communicate orally.
