Abstract

Mathematics is a universal science that modern technology has developed important role in various disciplines and the rapid development of thought progress in information and communication technology, can encourage students to think critically, quickly, but the fact is that students think Mathematics is a subject that is not fun, boring, boring, too difficult, and not infrequently learning achievement Mathematics students become low. The purpose of this research is to describe about the role of the counseling teacher in improving student learning achievement at SMP Negeri 35 Medan. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive subject of in this study were counseling teachers who had conducted tutoring services to improve student achievement interview guidelines in deep observation collect data related to research. Based on research results and data analysis can be concluded that the students' mastery of subjects Mathematics is still minimal and below average in terms of report card grades students in mathematics subjects who have not met the KKM. The role of the BK teacher in improve students' mathematics learning achievement trying to provide a direction view motivation for students for a bright future must be by studying seriously, provide tutoring services according to needs students communicate and discuss student learning achievements are students gadget addiction, student learning time that is less than optimal if only at school, lack of student interest in learning Mathematics, as well as difficulty memorizing formulas mathematics and math teacher explanations that are less interesting.
