Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out: (1) students' interest in learning mathematics in face-to-face learning in class V of Al-washliyah 11 Private Elementary School Medan, (2) the process of learning mathematics during face-to-face learning in class V of Al-washliyah 11 Private Elementary School Medan, (3) student responses to face-to-face learning on interest in learning mathematics in class V Al-washliyah 11 Private Elementary School Medan. This research uses descriptive qualitative research in the form of written and oral data from related people. Respondents in this study were: fifth grade math teachers, and fifth grade students of SD Al-washliyah 11 Medan. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis used is data reduction, data presentation, and verification, while the presentation of the validity of the data is carried out by focusing on matters that are the subject of discussion, analysis and drawing conclusions. From the results of research on the learning interest of fifth grade students in mathematics at Al Washliyah 11 Private Elementary School in Medan, it showed that by starting face-to-face learning it made students more enthusiastic and interested in learning mathematics, because in face-to-face learning students interact directly with the teacher so that make it easier for students to ask questions directly when students do not understand the material taught by the teacher. Students claim to enjoy learning mathematics during face-to-face learning because the teacher can help students understand the material being taught, so that they can achieve the expected learning objectives.
