Abstract

This study aims to (1) determine student learning outcomes before using the Mind Mapping learning model in science subjects, (2) to find out how the application of the Mind Mapping Learning Model in science subjects, (3) to determine the increase in student learning outcomes after using the model Mind Mapping learning in science subjects at MIN 3 Medan City. This study uses a type of quantitative research that uses Quasi Experiment, control class and experimental class. The subjects of this study were students of class V MIN 3 Medan with a total of 26 students. The data collection technique is by observation, test, and documentation. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that: (1) Student learning outcomes in science subjects before using the Mind Mapping learning model are still relatively low. This can be seen from the pretest results, namely the average value of the experimental class is 55.23. (2) The application of the Mind Mapping learning model to science subjects at MIN 3 Medan City makes students more active and motivated in learning science. This can be seen from the results of students' science learning after working on the Posttest questions, namely 82.92. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the Mind Mapping learning model has an effect on student learning outcomes in science subjects at MIN 3 Medan.
