Abstract

This study was aimed to find out : 1) what the Islamic values are tought by the teacher in teaching English reading comprehension, 2) how are the Islamic values realized in teaching English reading comprehension, 3) the reason of why are the Islamic values realized in the way they are. This research was carried out by using qualitative research with phenomenological approach. The data were gathered through interview with 4 informants, classroom observation, and ducument. The data of this study were analysed qualitatively using data analysing model by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2018). From the analysed data, it was revealed that in learning English, a teacher must also include and relate Islamic values when teaching all aspects of learning English, including when an English teacher teaches reading comprehension to build a good character and emotion. There were eight ways that teacher use in realized Islamic values in teaching English reading comprehension. (1) Islamic greetings; (2) reciting prayer; (3) riview the previous lesson material; (4) reading material, (5) group discussion; (6) linking the topics taught with appropriate Islamic values; (7) homework assigtment; (8) Islamic Cloasing. The reason of realized in teaching English reading comprehension because students also need what is called character education to shape students to have good and noble souls, and be able to behave politely in their lives this character education can be built with Islamic values in teaching every subject.
