Abstract
Group investigation technique is one of the cooperative learning models that using a study group consisting of students who are responsible for mastering the subject matter and working together to complete the section with other students who are members of study group. This study aims to determine the improvement of students’ functional text achievement by using group investigation techniques. This research was conducted at MAS TPI Sawit Seberang. This research uses the CAR (Classroom Action Research) method where this method is applied directly to students in class in order to achieve the purpose of this research that is improving students’ functional text. The subject of this research is the tenth grade students of Islamic senior high school MAS TPI Sawit Seberang. The results showed that there was an improvement in students after applying the group investigation technique. The data was collected from observation, diary notes, interview, and test. From the data obtained, the percentage of students’ completeness in Cycle II (91.4%) was higher than the percentage of students’ completeness in Cycle I (45.7%), and it was higher than the percentage of students’ completeness in pre-test (8.57%). Then, the mean of students’ score in Cycle II session (80.9) was higher than the mean of students’ score displayed in Cycle I session (64) and pre-test session (39.4). It means that there is significant improvement of students’ functional text achievement through Group Investigation Technique (GIT) of the 2021/2022 tenth year students of MAS TPI Sawit Seberang.
