Abstract
The research that has been conducted entitled “An Analysis Students’ Problem in Pronouncing English Vowel”, with the background that student learning outcomes are quite apprehensive and learning activities that take place face-to-face classes are limited. This research aimed to find out what vowel sounds are difficult to be pronounced, what problem that faced by student in pronounce English vowel, and what factor that make students problem in pronounce English vowel SMAN 1 Lumbanjulu. It employed a qualitative method that consisted of two kinds of instruments, there were test that consisted of 30 items and interview that consist of 2 questions. The subjects of the research was the eleven grade students of SMAN 1 Lumbanjulu in academic year 2021-2022 that consisted of 20 students. The data were collected through test and interview, and were analyzed qualitative method. The result of the research showed that the students of SMAN 1 Lumban julu difficult to pronounce by the students is /з/ (28,3%) it is fair. The mostly problem in pronounce English vowel sound is lack of confidence. And the mostly factor that make students’ problem in pronouncing English vowel sound is poor teaching method/ passive teacher.
