Abstract
The implementation of this research is mainly to find out whether the team game technique can improve the subject's speaking skills or not. The subjects of this study were students of class X at Mas Nu Paringgonan which consisted of 2 classes. In this study, the authors took quantitative methods. This means that the author makes a speaking teaching experiment using the tournament technique (experimental class in Class X Science 1), and without using the team game tournament technique (class in X Science 2), then the author gives them a speaking test (pre test and post test). The writer uses purposive sampling technique to select the experimental class and the control class. The results showed that the average pretest of the experimental class was 62.10 and the posttest results were 77.80; while the mean of the control class pretest is 53.10 and the posttest result is 72.20. This means that student achievement in the experimental class is better than student achievement in the control class. The result of the t-value analysis is 3.91, and the result of the t-table analysis is 2.086. This means that the value of t count is greater than t table, namely 3.91 < 2.086. So, Ha accepted. Results Based on the research, the authors conclude that the use of team games in learning hortatory exposition texts for second grade students of MAS Nu Paringgonan academic year is effective. The teaching and learning process is quite good in its approach. Based on the research, it is recommended for teachers to continue to use tournament team games in teaching speaking, for students to always try to improve their speaking skills, for schools to support facilities to achieve teaching and learning objectives. and for other researchers, it is suggested to apply the team tournament technique in teaching other texts.
