Abstract
This research aimed to find out the effect of discoverylearning method on students’ reading comprehension. The population of this research was 230 students consist of 6 classes. The sample was the first grade of senior high school X IPA 1 and X IPA 2 at SMA Negeri 4 Tebing Tinggi, Sumatera Utara. The methodology of this research is quantitative by using experimental and control group. After giving pre-test and post-test, the result showed that the mean from experimental group was 48,24 (pre-test) and 80,27 (post-test). For the control group was 49,72 (pre-test) and 57,5 (post-test). The data of test showed normal and homogeneous. In the hypothesis testing, the researcher used t-test and it showed t.count (13,25) > t.table (1,99) which Ha accepted and Hi rejected. Therefore, There is significant effect of discovery learning method on studnts’ reading comprehension.
