Abstract
This research was conducted to find out the implementation of Information Search Strategy in increasing students’ ability in writing descriptive text. The subject of this research was the eighth grade students’of MTs Jam’iyatul Alwahliyah Tembung which consisted of 40 students’. This research applied classroom action research. The technique for data analysis used qualitative and quantitative approach, data were taken from observation sheet, Interview Sheet, documentation and test. The result of this research showed that there was increasing the students’ ability at writing descriptive text. The mean of the pre test was 46,075, in cycle one was 71,55, in cycle two was 81,35, it indicated that cycle two were better than the cycle one. The percentage of students’ who got point 80 or more also increased. In the pre test, there were five students’ who got point 80 (12,5%). In the post test of cycle one the students who got point 80 or more were 16 students’ (40%). It means that there was an increasing about 27,5%. The post test of cycle two, the students’ who got point 80or more were 30 students’ (75%) and the increasing was about 62,5%. Thus, it can be stated that the Information Search Strategy could improve students’ ability at writing descriptive text, and also the students’ were happy to learn writing descriptive text by Information Search Strategy it could be seen in the result of observation sheet, Interview sheet and documentation. They showed that the classroom were alive and active.
