Abstract

The research conducted was entitled “The Effect of Wordwall as An ICT Learning Media in Teaching Present Continuous Tense at 10th Grade of SMA Swasta Budisatrya Medan” which was motivated by the difficulty of students understanding Present Continuous Tense learning material so that the average score on Present Continuous Tense learning material was still said to be very low. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental method with Pre-test and Post�test research design. The population of this study were 10th grade students of SMA Swasta Budisatrya Medan with a sample size of 22 students of class X MIPA-2 as the control class and class X MIPA-1 with 22 students as the experimental class. The data obtained were analyzed using normality test using Shapiro-Wilk, homogeneity test, and t-test using Independent Sample T-test using SPSS version 22 software application. The results showed (1) there is an effect of Wordwall application as ICT learning media in teaching present continuous tense, it is because the mean score in the experimental class increased significantly from 58.18 to 72.95. Meanwhile, in the control class the average value obtained also increased although not significantly from 57.95 to 58.86, and the value of Sig. 2 tailed that calculated in finding section showed 0.000 lower than alpha score 0.050 (0.000 <0.005), which means the Null Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the Alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. (2) moreover, the age and motivation of students affect the understanding of the material to be taught, (3) in addition to influencing students, the Wordwall.net platform indirectly makes teachers creative.
