Abstract

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the student's listening competence in teaching comprehension for the purpose of improving student listening, which was observed and analyzed from students in the eleventh grade at SMA Negeri 9 Medan. The quantitative approach was used in this study, together with an experimental research design. This study's demographic consisted of eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 9 Medan. This study included two groups: experimental and control. The researcher then instructed the experimental class by watching a video and listening to an oral presentation, whereas the control class was instructed by lecture, practice, and product learning. Following treatment, the researcher administered the post-test to both classes. The post-test score was obtained from the written test. By using SPSS V 22, tobserved = 8.801 >ttable = 1.67155 at a significance level of 0.05 (5%) and the Sign. (2-tailed) is 0.000< 0.05. To summarize, the tobserved>ttable and Sign. (2-tailed) 0.05 indicate that Ha is accepted. As a result, the researcher might conclude that task-based learning. It means that there was an influence of listening to a video on students' Listening comprehension.
