Abstract
This research was conducted at Albukhari Muslim Integrated Junior High School Medan with the following objectives: 1) Knowing how the counseling teacher's ef orts in improving the altruistic attitudes of students at Albukhari Muslim Integrated Junior High School Medan, 2) What factors are the supporters and obstacles in improving the altruistic attitudes of students of Albukhari Muslim Integrated Junior High School Medan. This type of research is phenomenological qualitative research that examines the ef orts of guidance and counseling teachers in improving students' altruistic attitudes. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. After the research was conducted, the results of the ef orts of guidance and counseling teachers in improving students' altruistic attitudes were obtained, namely the first guidance and counseling teacher carries out the function of understanding by providing role models to students, the second development function is carried out by inviting students to care more about their surroundings and carry out social activities, and finally the alleviation function by conducting Personal Guidance and Group Guidance services, while the understanding function is carried out by implementing Information Services
