Abstract

This research aimed to know the students’ problems in learning English, the factors that affected learning, and to find out the solution to overcome the problems of learning English during Pandemic Covid-19 at twelfth grade students IPA 1 of SMA Negeri 1 Rantau Utara. The researcher has conducted research from July 26, 2021 to September 4, 2021. This research method uses qualitative research. The research subject were 10 students. The data collection procedures used were interviews, observation and documentation. The data analyze use Miles and Huberman model (data reduction, data display and conclusion). The results of this study were 10 students experienced problem in learning English, and also did not understand when the teacher delivered English materials. The factors that cause problems in learning English for twelfth grade students are internal factors, including the students less understanding about English lesson and less interested in taking English lessons because online learning process, while the external factor is that the environment factor. The solution from the problems are understanding material, do exercise and practice, making group discussion and the teacher can using system fun learning to support learning activity such as studying in a song.
