Abstract
This research was conducted to investigate whether there was a significant effect of the role play technique on the students’ speaking skills. The researcher employed an experimental by treatment of quantitative research.The quntitative data were taken from the test. The result of the data analysis showed that there was an effect in student’s speaking skill by using the role play technique. The population consisted of two classes. The two classes were taken as the sample. The samples of this research were taken 36 that were taken as a whole. The students of the experimental group (XI-1) were 18 students and 18 students of the control group (XI-2). After conducting the research, it was found that the mean score of pre-test and post-test in experimental was 64,44 and 82,77. While controlled class gained the mean score of pre-test was 60,55 and 68,33 for the post-test score. T-Test result of the data was calculated by using SPSS v.25 and resulted that t observed 0.596 higher than 0.591 with a significance level of 5% (0.005). It can be concluded that the role play technique had a significant effect on students' speaking skills of eleventh-grade students at Mas Darussalam Parmeraan. Keyword: Speaking
