Abstract

Textbooks are guidelines for acquiring competency in the learning process. the high percentage of book use in educational units and schools that use private publishers, it is necessary to carry out an analysis of biology textbooks. This study aims to determine the level of suitability of biodiversity material in class X high school biology textbooks based on the 2013 Basic Competency Curriculum on the aspects of breadth and depth of material. This research method uses a qualitative method, using descriptive research aimed at explaining or describing an existing phenomenon. The instrument used in this research is a conformity level analysis sheet that has been validated by expert lecturers. The results showed that in terms of the broad aspect of the material in textbooks A and B, the categories were "Not suitable" and "Appropriate", with an average yield of 60% and 81.5%. Meanwhile, in terms of the depth of the material in textbooks A and B, the categories are "Not suitable" and "Appropriate", with an average of 50.9% and 76.19%. This means that book A can still be used with notes, namely finding other learning resources to fulfill the two main materials that are not listed in book A
