Abstract

This research aimed to improve the student’s listening skill in English. This research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (CAR). The objective of this research was to improve students’ ability at listening through audio aids. The subject of this research was XI IPA-4 of SMA Negeri 2 Kisaran in academic year 2021/2022 which consist of 30 students. This research was conducted in two cycles which each consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The technique of analyzing data of this study was applied by using qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were taken from interview, observation and documentation. The quantitative data were taken from the test. The result of the data analysis showed that there was an improvement in the students’ listening skill after the implementation of using audio aids/podcast. In the pre-test the students mean was 49,33 and the students who passed the KKM were 3 of 30 students (10%). In the post-test I the students mean was 64,33 and the students who passed the KKM were 7 of 30 students (23%). In the post-test II the students mean was 81,5 and the students who passed the KKM were 24 of 30 students (80%). Based on the observation sheet, interview and documentation, the students were enthusiastic, enjoy, and interesting in teaching learning process. In the other words, the students’ listening skill was improved by using Audio Aids.
