Abstract

This research aimed to determine students' perspective of using TPR Technique in listening comprehension. The subject of this research was students of SMPN 2 Aek Natas in 2022/2023 academic year. Where TPR is a language concept experiment using gestures or body movement. This research aim to find out students’ perspectives about TPR and how the students’ interested in using TPR. This research of this study was conducted using qualitative descriptive research. And to get the data the researcher using data collection techniques with observation, interview. The researcher research in seventh grade in the first semester that consisted 23 students’. The researcher gave 5 questions in an interview session to students that still relate to students' perspective of using TPR Technique in listening comprehension. Based on the result of the data, it showed that most students have positive perspective of using TPR Technique to their listening and from interview that researcher conducted showed 48% students’ said very fun and 43% said fun and just 13% students said TPR is boring. They strongly agree that TPR Technique make the students’ listening easier in a fun-way it showed from the data that 78% of student said agree. They agree that TPR can make class atmosphere be active. And also The students’ said that they are interested when using TPR because it makes them more active and from the data showed 75% of students’ choose yes and 25% choose maybe. Based on the findings of the research, the researcher can conclude that TPR is recommended to practicing students’listening comprehension because provide a significant increase in students’ listening ability. So, TPR is easy for students’ to follow and also to apply in classroom can increase students’ interest in learning English.
