Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the types of errors made by santriwati when using the simple present tense, to find out the dominant errors made by santriwati when using the simple present tense and to describe the reason santriwati made errors when using the simple present tense in daily conversation in the dormitory. The researcher uses a descriptive qualitative method. The researcher uses documentation and interviews as data collection techniques with six santriwatis at the Islamic Boarding School santriwati dormitory. The result of this research is there are three types of errors made by santriwati, namely: omission, misinformation and misordering. The dominant error made by santriwati is error of omission. The reason santriwati made errors when using the simple present tense in daily conversation in the dormitory are interlingual transfer and context of learning.
