Abstract

In this research, the main topic is writing descriptive paragraphs. This research aims to determine the effect of the RAFT strategy on students achievement in writing descriptive paragraphs in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Sei Kanan Labuhanbatu Selatan. The experimental class used the strategy RAFT in writing descriptive paragraphs. In this research, quantitative methods were used by researcher and the research design used was experimental design. The population in conducting this research is class XI and the sampling Nonrandom technique is taken. The researcher gave a pre-test before giving a post-test. The data was then analyzed using statistical formulas through the SPSS application with a significance level of 0.05. Then the researcher obtained data from the research, namely tcount (0,6654) < ttable (0,68635),which indicates that Ha is accepted while H0 is rejected. These results are based on the number of pre-test and post-test students from the experimental class and the very high number of post-test in the experimental class. It can be shown that there is an effect of strategy Raft on students' achievement in writing paragraphs descriptive.
