Abstract
This research was conducted to analyze and classify the types of the students’ errors when transforming active voices into passive voices. Besides, the purpose of this research to investigate the students’ errors in transforming active voices into passive voice, find out errors are made by the students and to find out the reasons why the students made errors, that had been analyzed at the ninth grade at MTs Budi Agung Medan. This research used qualitative method. This study was designed in the case of study. Furthermore, the subjects of this study were the ninth grade at MTs Budi Agung Medan class IX Tahfidz which consisted of one as key informant and three students as supporting informants. Data collection is done through observation, test, and interviewed with the participants. After the researcher analyzed the data, the researcher found out that the student’s errors in transforming active voices into passive voices are presented in six errors, namely: 1) Errors in using personal pronouns because the student did not know the function of personal pronouns. 2) Errors in using ‘to be’ because the student did not know the correct writing of the word 'to be' because the specified personal pronoun was also incorrect, so it affected when the student wanted to determine ‘to be’. 3) Errors in using verbs because the student did not know the past participle of the basic verb. 4) Errors in using objective pronouns when determining by agent because the student did not understand the function of objective pronouns. 5) Errors in putting complement because the student did not know the meaning of word for word in sentences. 6) Errors in meaning because the student only changed positions from each word so that it could change the actual meaning in the sentence.
