Abstract
The objective of the research is to find out the effect of using Mind Mapping Technique on the students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text. This study used quantitative method with quasi – experimental as the design that used two group pre – test and post – test. It means that there are an experimental class and a controlled class which were given pre – test and post – test. The sample of this research was 50 the second grade students of SMPN 15 Medan of the 2021/2022 academic year. The instrument of this study is a reading test. To score the students’ descriptive text on pre – test and post – test the writer used rubric of scoring namely an analytical scoring. The result of this study shows that there is a positive effect of the result of students’ descriptive text after using the mind mapping technique. It can be seen from the calculatiom of and ,the higher than . The result of is 2.45, since the in degree of significane 5% is 2.02. It shows that the comparison of ttable and and is 2.02 < 2.45 To sum up, t – test is higher than t – table, so mind mapping technique was effective to students’ descriptive text.
