Abstract

Horse manure and cabbage vegetable waste can be used as raw materials for biogas production. Horse manure contains methane-forming bacteria, carbon and nitrogen. This cabbage vegetable waste with its fast decomposing nature can be decomposed by microbes, therefore cabbage vegetable waste can be made as a raw material for making biogas. This study aims to determine the results of characterization of physical parameters, chemical compounds, as well as flame and fire color in biogas. This research uses an experimental method by stirring horse manure until it becomes porridge and cabbage vegetables are cut and then blended until smooth. In this study there were 3 variations of fermentation time, namely 3 days, 12 days and 21 days and the tests carried out were pH value, temperature, methane content (CH4), flame length and flame color with 3 samples: (1) 100% horse manure, (2) 100% cabbage vegetable waste, (3) 50% horse manure + 50% cabbage vegetable waste. The results showed that the manufacture of biogas from the composition of horse manure and cabbage vegetable waste has optimal results obtained from cabbage vegetable waste samples containing methane (CH4) of 60%, pH value of 5 - 7.3, temperature of 25.33 ° C - 28.33 ° C, flame duration of 32 seconds and flame color is blue
