Abstract
The research on the role of Madrasah Principals in Improving Discipline in Students at MAN 1 Medan aims to find out and analyze how the process of inculcating disciplinary values in students. What is the role of the head of Madrasah, and how is the role of the principal in shaping discipline in students. The method that the researcher uses is a qualitative research method through a descriptive approach that uses direct observation techniques, interviews and documentation. The subjects of this study were the head of the madrasa, teachers and students. The data analysis technique uses data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Assurance of the validity of research data using extended observations, increasing persistence and triangulation. The results of the research in this thesis are that the head of Madrasah at MAN 1 Medan is good in instilling disciplinary values, and the role of the head of madrasa in improving discipline at MAN 1 Medan is quite good, as for by disciplining himself personally, by example, directing from the principal. madrasas in the coaching process carried out on teachers and students. The supporting factors as the role of the madrasa head at MAN 1 Medan are to control and cooperate from each educator, the support from the community around the school, and the awareness of each individual student, while the inhibiting factor in inculcating the values of discipline itself is present. from the personal of each personnel in the madrasa environment ( educator-student-family) .
