Abstract

Writing is one of skill in English that must be mastered by student. In curriculum 2013 revision, the eight grade of junior high school must be able to write one of genre in writing. Especially, in writing descriptive text. In this thesis, the writer give a learning technique for students in improving writing skill. There are some problems that caused the students got low score. They are : 1. The quality of student’s writing skill was still low. 2. Students lack in vocabulary mastery. 3. There are some error spelling in student’s writing. 4. Students don’t know the generic structure in descriptive text. Due to that reason, the writer gave a solution to improve their writing by guided question technique. The result of data analysis showed that there was significant improvement of the students' writing skill in descriptive text through each cycle. The mean of students' score in pre test was 54,5, in post test I was 75,22 and post test II was 85,50. Based on the data in this study, it was concluded that the students' writing skill in descriptive text by using guided question technique was improved.
