Abstract

The research that has been carried out entitled "Utilization of Mangrove Forests as a Source of Social Science Learning in Forming Environmental Care Attitudes in Students of Mts Madinatul Ilmi Langkat" is motivated by mangrove forests as a source of learning to form an attitude of caring for the environment to students at Mts Madinatul Ilmi. It can be seen that social studies subject teachers invite students to go directly into the mangrove forest as a source of learning in the process of teaching and learning activities. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Sources of research data obtained from primary and secondary data sources. Data collected through interviews, observation, documentation. Data analysis used Miles Huberman and Saldana's interactive model starting from data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/data verification. Data validity uses credibility test, transferability test, dependability test and confirmability test. The results of the study show that (1) Mangrove forests are utilized as a learning resource in the social studies learning process, namely, by inviting students to study in mangrove forests and the surrounding environment so that students are more familiar with and able to care for mangrove forests and apply what they have learned in madrasa environment. (2) Social studies learning activities by utilizing mangroves as a learning resource, namely, it is clear from not littering, maintaining classroom cleanliness, and participating in planting and caring for mangrove trees in mangrove forests. (3) Utilization of mangrove forests can form an attitude of caring for the environment students namely, the existence of mangrove tree planting activities and mutual cooperation activities by MTs Madinatul Ilmi students as a form of caring for the surrounding environment.
