Abstract

Ministry of Environment and Forestry in 2019, out of 98 rivers in Indonesia, 54 rivers were lightly polluted, 6 rivers were lightly polluted to moderately polluted, and 38 rivers were lightly polluted to heavily polluted. There are still many Indonesian people who still use river water as a source of water for household needs. So the purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between river quality and skin health complaints of river water users. A quantitative research approach utilizing a cross-sectional design was used by researchers in conducting the study. The results of this study are the physical quality of river water in Bagulung, Mandailing Village, Tebing City from 5 parameters, namely color, TDS, TSS, turbidity and odor. Only the color parameters do not match the river water quality standards. The downstream and upstream river waters contain positive E.Coli bacteria. And for the chemical quality (pH) of river water, it does not meet river water quality standards or is on the threshold of river water quality standards. It can be concluded that the downstream river water cannot be used by the community, due to the higher rate of water pollution downstream than in the upper reaches of the Bagulung river. Evidenced by the higher pollution of river water downstream from the parameters TDS, TSS, water pH, and the behavior of people who pollute river water more downstream.
