Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of problem based learning models on problem solving ability and mathematical communication of students in class VIII SMP Nur Ihsan Medan with cartesian coordinates. The research method used is quantitative research, with the type of experimental research. The population is all students of class VIII. The sampling technique used is cluster random sampling, with regular VIII-2 class as an experimental class taught with a problem based learning model and regular VIII-3 class as a conventionally taught control class. Analysis of the data used is the "t" independent sample t-test that has met the prerequisites for samples originating from normally distributed and homogeneous populations.
