Abstract
Before entering the classroom, students understand concepts different from scientifically accepted ideas. Most students experience misconceptions not during the teaching and learning process but before the teaching and learning process begins. Students who share misconceptions will hinder the process of receiving and assimilating new knowledge, thus hindering student success in the learning process. This study aims to identify misconceptions of grade IX students of Alulum Medan Junior High School on reproductive system material using a threetier test diagnostic test instrument. The research population was all grade IX students of SMP Al-Ulum Medan with the total of 160 students. Sampling is carried out using the total sampling technique/census. This type of research is a cross-sectional survey. The research instrument uses a three-tier diagnostic test consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions with four options at the first and second levels, revealing the reasons for the options at the first and third levels, followed by the confidence level of the answers using CRI. Data analysis techniques refer to a combination of misconception category answers (Jauhariyah, 2018). The misconceptions identified in the reproductive system material were 43.56%, with moderate misconceptions. The teacher can use the misconceptions placed to construct students' knowledge more precisely.
