Abstract

Speaking is one of the four skills in English. It is used by everyone to communicate something in daily life. The people could express idea, feeling, and thought orally. "The Student’s Speaking Problems : The Case Study In Efl Class At Sma Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan" was conducted. This research method is qualitative research. The participants in this research were ten students in the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan . In collecting the data, the researcher conducted observation interview and documentation the students. To analyze the data, the researcher used four major phases of data analyses called by data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The result of this study showed that each student faced different problems in speaking English in EFL class. This research focused on the students’ speaking problems in EFL Class and the factors causing speaking problem. The finding showed that the students' speaking problems in EFL class were inhibition, nothing to say, low participation, mother tongue used, lack of vocabulary, poor in grammar, poor in pronounciation. Furthermore, the cause of speaking problem in EFL class were fear of mistake, shyness, anxiety, lack of confidence, lack of motivation. In conclusion, inhibition was the most problem that students often faced in speaking.
