Abstract

Mathematics is a universal science that develops modern technology, has an important role in various disciplines and advances in thinking, rapid developments in information and communication technology, can encourage students to think critically, quickly, but the fact is that in the field students think Mathematics is an unpleasant, boring, boring subject. saturated, too difficult, and not infrequently students' mathematics learning achievement becomes low. The purpose of this study was to describe the role of BK teachers in improving student achievement at SMP Negeri 35 Medan. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subject of this research is the BK teacher who has carried out tutoring services to improve student achievement, interview guides, observations and collect data related to research.Based on the results of research and data analysis, it can be concluded that students' mastery of mathematics subjects is still minimal and below the average, this is seen from the value of student report cards in mathematics subjects that do not meet the KKM. The role of guidance and counseling teachers in improving students' mathematics learning achievement seeks to provide students with a motivational view of a bright future. They must study earnestly by providing tutoring services that are in accordance with students' needs, communicating and discussing students' mathematics learning achievements to their guardians.The inhibiting factors for student learning achievement are students who are addicted to gadgets, students' learning time is not optimal if only at school, students' lack of interest in learning mathematics, and difficulty memorizing mathematical formulas and unattractive mathematics teacher explanations.
