Abstract

Jihan Sarah Nadeak 2022. An Analysis of Speech Act on English Teaching and Learning Proses in SMP Muhammadiyah 51 Sidikalang in Class VIII. (A Descriptive-qualitative Research). Under the Thesis of English Education Department the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Islamic University of North Sumatera. The objective of the research is to identify the speech act that produced by teacher and students English teaching and learning process at SMP Muhammadiyah 51 Sidikalang Class VIII. The researcher used a descriptive Qualitative Research. Research subject is English teacher and students SMP Muhammadiyah 51 Sidikalang Class VIII. The research instrument was observation. The result of the research were found three types of speech acts used by English teacher and students of SMP Muhammadiyah 51 Sidikalang Class VIII during teaching learning process. There were three types of speech acts employed by the teacher and students from 36 utterances. The teacher produces 30 utterances and students 6 utterances. They were directives, representative, and expressive. Keywords: Speech act, Speaking Skill, Illocutionary, Assertive, Expressive, Directive.
