Abstract

This study aims to determine The Implementation of Strategy explicit in Reading comprehension. This study seeks to find out how the process of implementing an explicit strategy in Reading comprehension is and whether an explicit strategy is effective in reading comprehension. This research was conducted in MTS S Robi'ul Islam Pasar Latong, with research subjects being English teachers and students in class VIII-C in the 2021/2022 academic year. This study uses a qualitative method that collects data by observation, interviews, and documentation. With that, the researcher found that the teacher applied an explicit strategy with several processes, such as the teacher explaining the material, inviting students to read the text, translating the text, and giving questions to the students. Based on the results of the final score, it can be proven that an explicit strategy is also an effective strategy in reading comprehension, it can be proven from the results of interviews and from observations in the teacher's teaching and learning process in the classroom that makes students understand the material and provides questions to assess students' understanding, and the result of the student's score is good. So it can be concluded that the explicit strategy is effective in reading comprehension.
