Abstract
The goal of this study was to see if the Personal Vocabulary Note (PVN) technique could help students enhance their vocabulary mastery. The subject of this study was SMP IT Darul Fikri Tanjungbalai ninth grade. Classroom Action Research was used to perform this study. The qualitative information was gathered via the observation and interview sheets. The quantitative data came from tests that were conducted at the end of each cycle. Pre-test, post-test I, and post-test II tests were administered to the students. The data analysis revealed that the students' scores improved from the first test, the cycle I post-test, to the cycle II post-test. It could be seen from the mean of pre- test was 54.78. The Minimum Passing Grade was passed by 13% of the students (3 students) (MPG). The mean of the cycle - I post test was 65.86. MPG was passed by 47 percent of the students (11 students). The mean in the cycle II post- test was 85.65. MPG was passed by 100% of the students (23 students). The results showed that implementing the personal vocabulary note technique was successful, and based on the data, it can be stated that the students' vocabulary mastery had improved as a result of employing the personal vocabulary note technique. It had to do with the observational findings that the students were more encouraged and interested to join the class, and they were excited during the teaching and learning activities.They inquired as to what they didn't even know, and they responded. The students were engaged and seemed to like the discussions that took place during the class.
