Abstract
Posyandu is known as a primary health facility, especially for children. According to the Ministry of Health, there are 298,058 integrated service posts (Posyandu) across Indonesia, but only 65.42% are operational - below the national target of 80%. This study aims to provide an overview of the implementation of the Posyandu Program for early childhood in Tanjung Sari Village, Posyandu Melati V, and Medan Selayang Sub-district. A descriptive qualitative approach was the research methodology used. Data for this study was collected using in-depth interview and observation methods. The results showed that more than half of the five main activities have been fulfilled, the results of the Posyandu program at Posyandu Melati V, Tanjung Sari Village, Medan Selayang Sub-district, fall into the category of Posyandu Madya. This is due to the growth rate of the program. There is already an established program run by the community with a stable stream of financing, although it is still very basic. The intervention objective was to establish a strong dana sehat with participation from at least half of the household members through dana sehat training. Although training has been conducted with an average of five cadres more than eight times a year, this is still not ideal. Other factors that support program implementation in Posyandu Melati V, Kelurahan Tanjung Sari, and Kecamatan Medan Selayang were also found in this study. Community interaction with the Posyandu, socialization, the presence of Posyandu cadres, and the ease with which the community could access the Posyandu were some of these components. Barriers faced include inadequate infrastructure and services as well as lack of community information on immunization. Therefore, communities should become more aware of their own health and be able to take part in all planned activities, especially those involving vaccination.
