Abstract

This study contains how the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the decline of society. The Covid-19 pandemic has caused many people to experience a significant decrease in income, especially in the tourism sector which spontaneously stopped, this is due to government policies in breaking the chain of the spread of this virus. This study aims to find out more about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the decline in people's incomes, how innovations are made by the community to continue to generate income and what are the conditions and abilities of the community in paying zakat during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews, questionnaires and observations in order to produce data. The income of the community around the Bukit Lawang Tourism Object during the Covid-19 pandemic decreased by 70% to 100%. The innovation of the community around Bukit Lawang Tourism Object varies depending on the type of business, but even so there are some people who remain silent in accepting their fate without trying other alternatives to continue to generate income, as well as the ability of the community to pay zakat which is different, most of them still set aside their wealth to pay zakat and there are some who claim that they are no longer able to pay zakat, this is also based on the provision of individual religious knowledge.
