Abstract

Thesis Post Graduate Study Islamic University North Sumatera Medan 2016. This research was generally aims to describe the activities of Islamic religious education in an effort to increase the awareness of religion of Muslim inmates in Correctional institution of Panyabungan. However, this research particularly aims to describe the activities of Islamic education foe Muslim inmates in Correctional Institution of Panyabungan, with the details to describe what problems solved through Islamic education, to describe how to carry out the activities of Islamic education and what barriers that happens in conducting Islamic religious education. The method of research is qualitative descriptive, with instrument tool is the researcher itself, the data obtained from two sources, namely primary and secondary data sources. With the technique of collecting data is by observation, interviews and documentation, as for the data analysis techniques performed data reduction (data collection), data presentation and conclusion. The results of this research showed that the activities of Islamic religious adecation in Correctional Institution of Panyabungan is running properly, effectively and positively good. The problems were resolved through Islamic education among them are well-dressed and close the genitals, not disturbing other prisoners in religious activity, not use or have any tipe of communication tools, using uniform at the time of a visit, too late during morning and afternoon assembly and communicate good and properly. Barriers that occur on the avtifities of Islamic religious education for Muslim inmates in correctional institution of Panyabungan is the awareness of inmates is less in following religious activities and the less of government attention to give religious teacher and infrastructures in doing their religious activities.
