Abstract

This paper aims to describe Al-Ashwat al-Lughawiyah in Arabic. AlAshwat al-Lughawiyah is one of the studies of al-Lughah Sciences which has an important role to be known by every teacher/lecturer in Arabic. This paper is a conceptual study using descriptive qualitative methods. It can be concluded that Arabic has units which make it perfect. The units can be seen in terms of sound and structure. In terms of sound, the smallest unit is called a letter. A collection of letter units forms words, and words then form sentences, and sentences form prose or clauses to form pragraphs and so on. Letters as the smallest unit in phonetics are produced through such a complex articulation process. It is said to be complex, because it requires cooperation between breath currents, vocal cords and articulation devices.
