Abstract
Contextual learning Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) is a learning strategy that emphasizes the process of full student involvement to find the material they learn and connect it to the situation in real life. This research was conducted to find out the extent of the implementation of contextual learning strategies carried out at Usman Syarif Islamic Boarding School in class VII. This research uses qualitative and descriptive methods. Researchers carried out the learning process at the seventh grade MTS level, researchers applied the contextual learning steps that had been determined. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, interviews and documentation, data analysis techniques with data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of this study reveal that the application of contextual learning makes students feel fun and more active in learning. The students feel more enthusiastic and dare to express their opinions. Thus, the application of contextual learning not only increases students' involvement in learning, but also has a positive impact on their learning spirit. A high spirit of learning will strengthen students' motivation to actively participate in lessons, develop a deeper understanding, and achieve better learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education subjects.
