Abstract

This study aims to determine the work programs run by library volunteers in increasing student information literacy, Impacts, obstacles and solutions faced by library volunteers at Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra in increasing student information literacy. This type of research is descriptive research using a qualitative approach. The technique used for collecting research data is through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique of this research uses data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results of the study show that the UMSU Library Volunteers play an active role and participate in encouraging increased information literacy of Muhammadiyah University North Sumatra students by carrying out various literacy activities organized by the UMSU library. the literacy activities they organize are in the form of Public Speaking training which is held offline. The impact of the information literacy program on students carried out by UMSU library volunteers was very influential in increasing the skills and knowledge of UMSU students. The obstacles faced by UMSU library volunteers in carrying out the information literacy program were obstacles that came from human resources, participants, and UMSU library facilities.
