Abstract
The ojective of this research is to find out students’ perception toward the use of Duolingo application in learning English during Covid 19. This research took the population of the students at SMP Swasta Islam Terpadu Al-Fattah exactly of ninth-grade students Desa Lama. Kec. Hamparan Perak, Deli Serdang. in academic year 2019/2020. This research used qualitative method which the sample consisted of 20 students at ninth class. In choosing the sample, the researcher used purposeful sampling technique. The data was collected from questionnaire and interview. The questionnaire consisted of four options in Likert scale. The result of this research showed from 20 students, almost all the students gave the positif answers than the negative answers toward the use of Duolingo application in learning English. Duolingo application give benefits to the students in learning process especially learning English language. 1) This application is able to motivate students to learn English at school and at home during this Covid 19 pandemic; 2) This application give the positive impact in improving English especially during Covid 19 pandemic; 3) This application allow the students to learn English everytime and everywhere whenever students want to learn English during Covid 19 pandemic. The researcher concluded that almost the student had a positive perception about Duolingo application.
